FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND HAIR CARE TIPS

Q:  What length should I buy?

A: Hair length varies slightly from person to person depending on height and weft placement, etc.  However, a general guideline photo is shown. Use this chart to get a general idea of where your extension hair would fall.

Q: How is the hair measured?

A: The hair is measured stretched, as is industry standard.

Q.:  What type of hair care products should I use?

A : Treat this hair just as if it were (OR BETTER THAN) your own hair. Use good quality shampoo, with a Ph of 7 or lower, and hydrating conditioning products. Avoid sulfates, and silicone.  It causes severe tangling and matting. Conditioning your hair is very important to keep it soft and manageable.  You can also use a light leave in conditioner, but nothing heavy that would cause product buildup or stickiness.  Hair sprays can be used (alcohol free only) to keep curls in place, but do NOT leave these products in for more than a few days without cleansing or at least co-washing the hair.

Other than Renown Premium Quench, Recommended shampoos and conditioners: Joico Products are excellent, and used by us here at Renown. We also like KeraSilk and Argan Oil.  We recommend that you purchase and use these products. Here are some other recommendations.

Q. Why are my hair extensions getting tangled?

A: Your Hair Extensions can tangle due to excessive dryness, oil & dirt build-up, exposure salt-water or chlorine,  and failure to detangle hair DAILY with a wide tooth comb before bed and covering with a silk or satin head covering while sleeping. Make sure to wash & condition your hair at least once a week but twice a week is advisable. Use hydrating drops, argan oil and perhaps a coconut oil-based leave in conditioner, or consult your stylist for more help. Avoid PROTEIN (Aphogee, Sebastian, etc.) based conditioners at all costs! It could cause irreparable damage. Even the BEST hair, will tangle IF NOT MAINTAINED PROPERLY, and as directed.

Q. How long does it last?

A : This hair can last for extended periods (in excess of one year or more) depending on how you maintain it. The better you treat it by following the care instructions, the longer it lasts!  Don't just assume that since it is GOOD hair, you don't have to do anything to it. That is simply not the case. Cuticle hair is higher maintenance and requires extra care and cleansing to get the full value of your purchase.

Q. Should I seal my weft?

A:  We pre-seal our Indian Virgin wefts.  However, after cutting during installation, and as you continue to do subsequent installs, your weft may shed on the ends.  It is helpful to seal the weft to prolong the use of your hair.  This, along with proper maintenance, can keep your hair healthier for a longer period of time.  Be sure to inform your stylist that poking the weft in the stitched area will cause shedding and tangling.  We recommend sewing over and under the weft in a blanket stitch, for best results.

A: Processing times for orders are 24 to 48 hours. Shipping of most items is within that time.  However, when there is a high-demand or special order item, you may be required to wait for an additional period before we can ship the item.  Shipping times are usually outlined on product detail pages. A: There is no "cooling off" or warranty period for hair extensions.  Due to sanitary reasons and regulations, we are not permitted to accept returns on hair that is not defective, under any circumstances.  In the unlikely event there is an exception, we will ONLY provide a merchandise credit, and not a cash refund.  You must agree to and acknowledge our policies on the checkout page. For this reason, we no longer accept orders by phone for new customers.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Q: Can I swim in my extensions?

A: You can certainly go swimming with your new head of extension hair, but there are a few tips that can help you get the longest life out of them.  First, saturate your hair with FRESH WATER before entering the pool/ocean.  Because your hair can only absorb so much water, pre-saturating the hair can help protect it from absorbing the salt or chlorine in the swimming water. In addition to wetting the hair, apply a conditioner to the hair for an additional layer of protection.

Once you are finished swimming, immediately rinse the hair, if possible.  Do NOT let your hair dry without rinsing the hair thoroughly.  Salt is a very damaging substace for hair extensions and can cause irreparable damage, including matting, tangling and dryness.
Q: Is all the hair online in the store?
A: No. All items online are not necessarily available in store.  In addition, online pricing may slightly vary from time to time, depending on the market in which you are located.
